Press Release Body: Quantum CAD, the Port Talbot based electronic/pcb design specialists is celebrating receiving the prestigious Investors in People (IIP) Award only nine months after they committed themselves to the process. Anna Bastek Marketing Manager at Quantum CAD, who successfully steered the company through gaining the Standard, said: "The average time for a company to achieve the IIP Standard is 18 months and so the fact that we've achieved it in half the time is incredible and just shows our commitment to getting on with the job and doing things well. The whole IIP process has allowed us to focus on our business and personal development that will make us a better company for our clients to work with and our people to work in." Steve Jones MD added "Training is integral to the overall business strategy, and will help Quantum to be at the forefront of the technology and become the centre of excellence in the electronics industry. We asses every individuals training matrix on a monthly basis, in our industry sector it is imperative to be up to date with technology and all aspects that help drive the customers development through the design stage as smoothly as possible, we do not want to be masters of yesterdays technology. We have adopted a culture of continuous improvement and learning and we understand that our staff are key to a long term success of any business." Welsh Assembly accredited consultant Carmel Gahan, who advised the company on their journey to the IIP Award added, "This is a great achievement for Quantum and Quantum is a great example about what aiming for a Quality standard such as IIP can do for a businesss. They have clearly shown that a business can improve its performance through investing in its staff. They will now go from strength to strength!" As the south Wales based company prepares to expand its operations to elsewhere in the UK and Europe, Quantum CAD has been investing significantly in its staff to achieve its goals of being a responsible employer and delivering high quality customer service. In the last year, individual members of the team have undertaken training in order to develop the company's design capability as well as enhancing their core business and personal skills. Courses and training have included: time management, account management and project management, as well as topics covering HR, public relations, sales techniques, presentation skills, PCB design excellence and advanced Illustrator. More recently, three of the company's designers were awarded IPC Designer Certification, including one CID+, while marketing manager, Anna Bastek has been awarded the Chartered Institute of Marketing's eMarketing award and the Institute of Leadership and Management's certificate in management, along with managing director, Steve Jones.
Dr Brian Gibbons, Assembly Member for Aberavon, visited Quantum CAD shortly after their assessment and praised the company for their achievement: "Investors In People, which plays an important part in the Welsh Assembly Government's objectives for skills, training and lifelong learning, is about people working together to maximise their potential. I am delighted therefore that Quantum CAD has achieved this coveted accolade which means that their contribution to the local economy and community will continue to grow. We also look forward to working with them in the future to help share their lessons with other organisations." Hoping to build on its IIP success, the team at Quantum CAD will be entering this year's National Training Awards, which are run by UK Skills on behalf of the Department for Innovation, Universities and Skills and recognise best practice amongst companies that achieve business and personal success through investment in training.
